Loving My Job (and Co-Trainees)

Haha. I must be crazy. Just a week ago, I'd give anything to quit being a programmer. Now, I'm really happy I ended up being one. I'm still not sure if I will get evicted from the training program. I'd find that out on Monday.

What got me really high-spirited is my co-trainees. We had a blast playing bowling yesterday in Megamall, even though we had to wait so long. I got a very low score, 82 I think, but it's still fun. Paulo was really a good bowler until a girl from his past payed him a visit. He got distracted for the rest of the game. Jami didn't play, I don't know why, she even bought socks with Clara and me, because we weren't wearing socks. We're wearing open-toed sandals. I'm surprised I did not wake up today with a sore right arm. The last time I bowled was in 2003! I couldn't even remember how heavy the ball was until last night. It was so heavy I thought I'd just drop it and let it roll wherever it went. I didn't think I'd be able to control the mouse afterwards. See, we had a plan to play Starcraft after that. And we did.

It was a three on three game, we won but definitely it wasn't because of me. My two teammates are experts. Actually I was just an 'alagain'. Myk had to rescue my base from being crushed by Kelvin. Hehe. They could have won without me. The last time I played StarCraft before last night was in 2000. That was in my third year in high school. I couldn't even remember that you have to have Overloads to see to your Zerglings. See, I used Zerg because Myk said something about our technique being a 'Zerling Rush'. Whatever! I learned that it just means you have to create lots and lots of Zerglings and have them attack. I definitely haven't used that technique before. As if I really used any technique at all when I played StarCraft six years ago. I've never even competed against a human-controlled enemy before. Haha. I used to play the campaigns and play with a friend through modem, but we're allies, against the computer. I'd be very stupid to think I can beat him.

But it was fun. I did a lot of stupid things still. First, I only had one Hatchery, hatching so little number of Zerglings. And my money was piling up. I didn't even remember how to create a new Hatchery until Myk noticed. Kelvin came when I started creating a new Hatchery. It's fortunate that I had lots of Zerglings and Alfie planted something of his near my base (I think) so Kelvin had to back off. But he was able to destroy my new Hatchery, it wasn't even complete yet! Most of my Zerglings died so I had to create more while creating a new Hatchery. Then Kelvin's little pets came again and that's when Myk had to help me. He came a bit late, the only thing that was left in my base was a thing that I don't even know how to refer to.

I was kind of embarrassed because obviously I have forgotten how to play that game and I think I was the weakest player. Marvin's was the first to lose in the game, but only because his base happened to be situated between Myk and Alfie's. Now I'm contemplating on getting a little bit of practice so that next time we play, I can hold my base together by myself. But I need an installer. Anyone?
